Most Frequently Played Songs The Mighty 690

As mentioned in my initial posting, The Mighty 690 had a very tight playlist. The top songs of the week would repeat every hour or so! Generally, a song had to be within the upper half of the week's Top 40 to even make The Mighty 690's current playlist. I remember Don Henley's "Dirty Laundry" being played a lot and "Let The Music Play" by Shannon.

Early on in 5th grade (late 80 or early 81) I specifically recall thinking they played these 4 songs in heavy rotation:

Devo - Whip It
The Vapors - Turning Japanese
Gary Numan - Cars
Queen - Another One Bites the Dust

I also recall later in 5th grade, so probably spring 81, that they also played On The Radio by Donna Summer quite a bit. All of these songs had been out for some time by that point.

When I was at my gramdma's house in summer 1982. They played these three songs heavily 1. Valley Girl by Frank Zappa
2. Cutie Pie by One Way
3. Words by Missing Persons
